Our Mission: Established in 2012, Da Bottom for Community Inc. is a non-profit organization that aims to influence community engagement, provide education and bring awareness to social and economic issues that affect inner city communities. We at DB4 Inc. understand the need for civic engagement and community awareness. Our goal is to increase individual's civic and educational capacity through activism, mentor-ship and educational programs to create a healthy social and physical environment. ABOUT US: DB4 started in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia. Mantua has a history and culture that stems back to the early 1900's. The name DB4 is inspired by Mantua's Nickname "Da Bottom". The number 4 represents the word "for" that expresses the personal and individual reason why each member voluntary participates in the organization. DB4 is programs are not limited to the Mantua community.The organization was originally founded in 2007 by lifelong Mantua resident, Vinte "ARSIN" Clemons. DB4 and partners presents Summer Program Mantua in Action


Mantua in Action is a program that DB4 help design and develop for the youth in the community.  Rusty from Custom ED came to us with a idea to bring a program to Mantua. We came of with the Name "Mantua in Action" MIA and the type of programs we thought the community would enjoy. DB4 was contracted by Custom ED to conduct outreach in the community and we help recruited over 270 youth for the program. This was a summer program which also turned into a after school program. This was our first time developing a program. We will be creating more of our own programs. We believe that community organizations should be more involved in operating programs like this because they can identity with the community more efficiently. However partnering with Custom ED on this project gave us a great opportunity learn and show that we can develop a successful program. DB4 were the original developers of Mantua in Action. Custom ED/Drexel University/Parks & Rec took on the administrative responsibility while DB4 assisted the marketing, mentor-ship and development. Watch the Video below and see a clip of the program.

DB4 Voter Registration Event 2012

On September 22nd, DB4 hosted a “Voter Registration, Stop the Violence Event” at the 39th & Olive Street Playground in West Philadelphia. The purpose was to educate the community about their voter rights and to get more people registered for the upcoming election. DB4 spoke about the importance of making a educated decision with voting and supplied literature for the community to read about the basic of politics and the voter process. The event started at 12pm and lasted till 8pm. There was free food and live entertainment performed by local artists. Approximately 150 Mantua residents participated in the event. DB4 was able to exceed their voting registration goal of 20, by finishing the day with 52 new registrations. All registration forms were giving to the 19104 Obama Campaign Office staff for mailing to the appropriate state office.
