DB4 My Life Kreationz Life Skillz & Performing Arts "Preview"

The Preview (MLK)
Fall 2013 was the the first time DB4 implemented the MLK program.  It was launched as a pilot program called "The Preview". There were 10 youth between the ages of 10-15 who participated in the program. The goal was to prepare the youth for a LIVE performance in front of the community. The youth practiced Hip Hop dance twice a week for 5 weeks. They also were able to express their artistic ideas by painting and designing their own outfits for the show. The main event took place at the James Wright Rec Center for the MCIC & DB4 Halloween party where 400 youth attended and watch them perform live.

Program Description (MLK): My Life Kreationz (MLK) is a Performing Arts and Life Skills program for youth, primarily between 10-15 years of age. The program is designed to provide various educational activities that will help identify and develop the artistic and constructive skills of the participants. In addition, the program will provide the youth with interactive workshops and mentor-ship that will assist with their personal development.
